Dream Glow

What is the you that you dreamed of? Who do you see in the mirror? I gotta say, go on your path, even if you live for a day do something. Put away your weaknesses. ❞  ➪ No More Dream (BTS)

I always look up at the beautiful night sky and wonder what the future holds for me. I used to dream the dreams of a girl. At a very early age, my dream was to do something big in life. But along with that I still had some fears also. I want to have a successful career. I made dreams that I wanted to achieve and I know that before getting all of these there will be many challenges along the way but I know that God is always there to guide me.

Everyday I like to be alone and take some time aside for my responsibilities to think about my dreams and all the goals that I want to achieve in the future. I always dreamed of paying back all the hardships and sacrifices of my parents, giving all their wants and needs in life. I must say that these past years had been very tough one for me. I experienced and learned a lot of things that somehow changed me. I encountered many struggles too but that made me to be better.

I want to be successful someday. Successful enough to ensure that my family never faces any problems at all. Successful enough to ensure that they lead a happy life forever. Successful enough to be able to make lives better for the underprivileged, for the ones who have to sleep hungry or the ones who don't have a roof over their head when they sleep. I want to buy all the things that I need and want. Traveling around the world. Spoiling and fulfilling the dreams of my fangirl self.

Your dream plays an important role in your life. Without dreams, there will be no desire to pursue. A great many people have dreams. Successful one or little ones. Indeed, even the best individuals had dreams and that is the thing that has made them what they are today.

The only time you should ever look back, is to see how far you've come.⇻ Butterfly

Kannawidan: a feast of rich heritage and culture

Ilocos Sur is a province rich in culture that represents the ancient Spanish and Filipino heritage. To show and share their treasures to the whole world, the locals conceived a festival that highlights these cultural traditions and they called it the “Kannadiwan Festival”.

It is a great advantage to the province of Ilocos Sur to be blessed with a rich heritage. Centuries of cultural exchange endowed us with customs and traditions that give distinction to the Ilocano culture. These are the reasons behind the conceptualization of the "Kannawidan Ylocos Festival". It aims, among others, to underscore the importance of pre-serving the people's rich culture and traditions, as well as to promote the province's products, which are mostly agricultural. This became an annual festival that aims to create awareness on the preservation of the province' rich cultural heritage, practices and traditions, and a showcase of the different agriculture and industry products. It is very significant to every resident in the province as we are celebrating the foundation of Ilocos Sur as a province by virtue of the Royal Decree signed on February 2, 1818.

Kannawidan has really lived up to its mission and vision: preserving and perpetuating the rich Iloco cultural, artistic, historical and intellectual heritage. Kannawidan gatherings have always been a venue for Ilocanos, relations and friends, sharing and exchanging thoughts, views and insights on how to preserve and perpetuate the beautiful customs and traditions. May this continue and we, Ilocanos must work as one in the spirit of unity, to love our own culture and arts. We must be do these things always, not only during festivals. Ilocos Sur is an amazing, wonderful, magnificent place! Be proud you're an Ilocano!

Change Starts With You

“Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.” — Leo Tolstoy

Change happens whether we like it or not and regardless of whether we do anything about it. Tomorrow will be different than today. We can resist, but that is a bit like standing in a river and trying to hold back the water – useless. We have a choice to watch change passively happening around us, or to participate and lead it.

If you want to change reality start with yourself first and attend to your own personal development. In doing so, problems give way to solutions and no longer affect you. The goal I'm currently striving for this year is to make this world a better place to live in by starting the changes in myself. Sure, I've had bad experiences in my life too, but this is exactly what made me the way I am now: grateful, full of love, with a desire to study well because it will help me become a successful person in the future and have a high quality of life.

We can lead change and make our world a better place if we start with ourselves. Learning to become a better spouse, parent, businessperson, leader, salesperson, philanthropist, coach and volunteer will enable me to contribute more to my family, my community, and my industry. By inviting positive change into my life, by initiating change, I might be able to positively influence others.

Vigan City Fiesta

The biggest secular festival is the Vigan Town Fiesta, a week-long celebration consisting of carnivals, parades, musical extravaganzas, beauty contests and nightly cultural shows. It culminates on January 25 with the celebration of the conversion of St Paul the Apostle, the town’s patron saint. Before his conversion, St. Paul was known as Saul, a zealous persecutor of Christians. After he was touched by a personal encounter with Jesus Christ on his way to Damascus, his name was changed to Paul and he endured a lot of hardships and danger to spread the word of God to far places.
Vigan’s main church, the Metropolitan Cathedral is dedicated to St. Paul and it stands at the core of the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia. The major Catholic educational institution in Vigan that stands beside the church is also dedicated to the patron, the St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur. The Vigan City Fiesta usually lasts for several days. It includes within the period the celebration of the anniversary of the cityhood of Vigan, which is commemorated every January 27.
Biguenos from all over the country and even abroad return to Vigan, as it is the custom of Filipinos to return to their hometown to join their family and friends in the celebration of their fiesta. They are joined by thousands of visitors from other parts of the Philippines and other countries in enjoying the cultural shows, parades and street dancing prepared by the local government with the help of the local industries and communities. There are also food fairs, arts and crafts exhibits, as well as a visiting carnival.

New Year, Love Yourself!

Another year has passed and come. Time flies so fast that I can't believe we're already in new century again. My mind is still stuck by the memories I had last year. I must say that there are good things to be celebrated and there are also bad things that needs to be filled in. I did encountered a lot of troubles but i found ways in order to fix it. I experienced a lot of problems that helped me to overcome my fears because of that I gained many lessons that I might need all throughout making decisions in life.

New year, that doesn't mean you need to change yourself for good it means you gotta be the new better version of yourself. I need to filled in my shortcomings and be good in all the thing that I will be doing. I promised myself that I will do my best to do good things only and avoid doing bad things. I will do whatever makes me happy and won't be affected by other people's negativity. I will keep going and moving forward even when I fail, to use my obstacles as a way to grow and always be grateful for the little things in life and always remember to thank God first before anything else. I will love myself even more than ever this year.

My Reflection

This quarter gave me mixed emotion, I've come to realized and learned that not all things will stay the way they should be. Just like the saying that people come and go, I learned that you just have to live at the happy moments you have with the people who is always there for you.

I was able to overcome these challenges and problems that I en countered by putting God first in whatever I do, asking my family and friends advices and my classmates help when there are topics that I find it difficult to understand, and I'm very grateful because they are willing to help me out. With God and having the people that motivates me, I overcome these obstacles.

All in all, Third Grading Period is a tough one. But I'm glad that I surpassed all those obstacles that I encountered and I'm very happy because I learned so much and experienced many unforgettable moments that I will bring for the rest of my life. Moving on, I will use those struggles as my inspiration and motivation to keep on going.
